A service dog escaped from a home in Glen Cove, and his owners are hoping for a Christmas miracle.
Vincenzo, also called Vinny, is Carlos Vazquez’s service dog. Vazquez said Vinny is always by his side. As News 12 reported, Vazquez, a crossing guard, was struck while on the job last year. He is still recovering. In the 1980s, he survived a horrific crash which left him with a prosthetic leg.
Vinny was at the East Avenue home of a family friend Wednesday evening and got out when a pizza delivery arrived. Vazquez said the 15-month-old labradoodle did everything with him and helped him emotionally. The family is asking anyone who finds him to contact the Glen Cove Police Department. The phone number is 516-676-1000.
