An armed man robbed a gas station in Merrick Monday morning, police say.
The store clerk, Javed Iqval, says that the gunman took more than $700 from the Mobil on Merrick Road just after 6:30 a.m.
Iqval says the man appeared to be about 25 years old and 5 feet 6 inches tall. The suspect was wearing a blue hoodie and white jeans.
It is not clear if the robbery is related to a string of other gas station robberies in Nassau and Suffolk counties over the past few weeks.
Eight gas stations in Nassau and six in Suffolk have been robbed within the last month, police say.
