A Garden City man was sentenced Monday to 17 years to life in prison for killing his mother.
Prosecutors say James Olsen, 60, strangled his bedridden mother with a necktie in their Garden City home back in 2011.
Olsen's attorney had claimed that his client snapped after caring for his 88-year-old mother, who was suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
