Neighbors of a woman who lost her battle with cancer held a fundraiser in Deer Park Saturday in her honor.
Sue Marchetti was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December. She died less than three weeks later.
Marchetti's oldest daughter, Allison, says that everyone in the neighborhood looked up to her as a second mom. Her youngest daughter, Nikki, says she was a positive and encouraging person.
The money raised will go toward the Lustgarten Foundation, which Marchetti's children say would make her proud.
The Lustgarten Foundation is America's largest private foundation dedicated to funding pancreatic cancer research. Organizers say 100 percent of donations go directly to research because Cablevision underwrites all of the Lustgarten Foundation's administrative costs. Cablevision is the parent company of News 12.
