A "fun" fundraiser took over the Crest Hollow Country Club Wednesday night, with a purpose that goes beyond being fabulous on the catwalk.
And News 12 was the only TV station at the Catwalk for Kids Fashion Show, a fundraising event for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island.
The "models" are all members of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island, a mentoring program for kids 7 to 16.
News 12 spoke with Marcelo Gallina and his two little brothers, Jorydan and Silvano, who were on the runway for the first time.
"I learn more from them than they probably know," said Marcelo.
Jorydan and Silvano said the best thing about having Marcelo as their big brother is Marcelo!
"He's nice, he's funny," said Jorydan.
Silvano said one of the best things about being Marcelo's little brother is, "being able to hang out with Marcelo!"
Also getting rave reviews at the fashion show, Big Sister Sheila Whelan and her Little Sister Maya.
"I always wanted someone that I could do things with and Maya's outrageously awesome," said Whelan.
CEO Mark Cox told News 12 the event is about more than having fun and being fabulous.
"We're trying to build better confidence in the kids, we're trying to get them to do better in school and we're trying to get them to come out of their shell," said Cox.
