A new group of people on Long Island are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, but many have had a very hard time even getting an appointment.
On Monday afternoon, the state unveiled its new vaccination hotline.
News 12 was unable to get through all afternoon Monday and last night before being disconnected.
The message stated, “We're sorry, we're temporarily unavailable to take your call. Answers to many of your questions can be found on our website at ny.gov/vaccine.”
However, early this morning, News 12 reporter Caroline Flynn was able to log in to the website.
Meanwhile, Fairview Pharmacy & Homecare Supply in Port Jefferson was listed on the state website as a distribution site. However, they say they have not received any doses and were inundated with calls on Monday.
"It was bad because you know we had to fill our other prescriptions, we had to take care of our patients, and it was really hindered today, doctors couldn't get through, patients couldn't get through, so, it was an experience," says Michael Nastro.
