June 26, 2009: Fans at Nassau Coliseum go wild when the Islanders select John Tavares with the first overall pick in the draft:
"I couldn't be more excited." Fans rejoice when the Islanders draft John Taveres
October 3, 2009: John Tavares scores his first regular-season goal against Marc-André Fleury of the Pittsburgh Penguins:
May 8, 2013: John Tavares scores a spectacular goal to put the Islanders ahead of Pittsburgh 5-4 in game 4 of their playoff series.  They would eventually go on to win 6-4 and tie the series at 2-2.
Sept. 9, 2013: John Tavares is named the 14th captain in New York Islanders history:
April 19, 2015: John Tavares scores in overtime to beat the Capitals 2-1 and take a 2-1 playoff series lead:
 
April 24, 2016: John Tavares scores in double OT to beat the Panthers in game 6 as the Islanders win a playoff series for the first time in 23 years.
