With wind chill temperatures dipping below freezing, conditions outdoors are increasingly dangerous for those working outside and Long Island's homeless population.

Dozens stocked up on food and clothing at the Lighthouse Mission in Bellport ahead of another cold night. Organizers say there is a need for coats, clothing, hats and gloves.

For those lucky enough to stay indoors, PSEG Long Island is taking precautions to make sure the heat stays on. A spokesperson says, "Our crews are ready to withstand the cold temperatures and winds to safely and quickly restore outages if and when they occur."
