Four teens are accused of beating and robbing two Hispanic men in a Rocky Point hate crime.
Police say 19-year-old Daniel Sturgis, 16-year-old William Foley, 19-year-old Nicholas Provenzano and 18-year-old Jesse Lee Ward, all from Rocky Point, attacked two men in their early 20s who were fishing at Hagerman Landing Beach. According to investigators, the teens beat, kicked and threw stones at the men while shouting racial and ethnic slurs.
All four teens pleaded not guilty Wednesday to felony assault and robbery, and all are being charged as adults. Cops say each suspect has a prior record and Sturgis, who authorities say is the ringleader, was recently released after spending a year in prison for attempted arson.
