A former top Suffolk police official awaiting sentencing is asking the judge for leniency.
Former Suffolk Chief of the Department James Burke faces over four years in prison.
He's set to be sentenced next week for beating a suspect who stole items from his vehicle, then orchestrating a cover-up.
Burke has written a letter to the judge that says his 75-year-old mother has lung cancer and that the wheelchair-bound woman depends on his care.
He's asking for a lighter sentence to continue that care.
