A storm system moving across on Long Island is bringing periods of rain mixing with wet snow today.
News 12 meteorologists say the precipitation could become heavy at times, but there likely won't be any accumulations beyond a slushy coating on cold surfaces.
The high temperature today will top out around 44 degrees. It will be quite breezy with winds E-NE 15-25 mph.
The precipitation will taper off tonight, and it will be breezy and very cold with overnight lows around 28 degrees. There is a freeze warning in effect for tonight and into early Sunday morning. Wind chills will make it feel like it's 15-25 degrees. The winds will keep up at around 15-20 mph.
Sunday will be mostly sunny, breezy and chilly. Highs will be around around 46 degrees.
It starts to warm up to more seasonable temperatures for Monday, with highs near 54 degrees under a mix of sun and clouds with some late-day showers.
