Residents are preparing for heavy rains left behind from former Hurricane Laura.
People in Lindenhurst began preparing on Friday by securing their boats on the water. They say they are most concerned about flooding, which is a constant problem in the village.
Town of Hempstead crews also began to prepare for the possibility of toppled trees and downed wires.
Town officials say they have cleared more than 5,000 storm strains to prepare for flooding.
"Our crews are out clearing drains, our trucks are ready, we're sharpening the blades on our buzz saws…," says Hempstead Town Supervisor Don Clavin. "And we are going to have crews throughout the weekend in case of any significant damage."
