Flooded firehouse doesn't stop Port Jefferson firefighters during storm

Port Jefferson Fire Department says it answered 25 calls Sunday night into Monday morning during the height of the storm.

Firefighters in Port Jefferson battled heavy rains to get people to safety earlier this week - all while its own firehouse was flooded.
Screenshots shared to Facebook show submerged gear and equipment, estimated to be thousands of dollars in damages.
The department tells News 12 that at no point was its ability to answer emergency calls impacted, and the cleanup process is already underway. Fire department members say they believe it will be complete by Thursday.
