A special lighting of the Big Duck in Flanders was held Wednesday night to honor front line heroes.
Each year, the iconic East End landmark is adorned with a Christmas wreath, but it was instead lit up in purple lights.
The move was to recognize the valuable contributions of emergency nurses in the community.
Wednesday was National Emergency Nurses Day. Suffolk County and Southampton Town teamed up for the event.
