Long Island residents woke up Saturday morning to the first significant snowfall of the season.
The wintry weather created slick road conditions for commuters.
"It was really slippery," says Heather Borriello, of Port Washington. "Especially the parts of the road that were not plowed yet. You just had to be really careful."
Several collisions occurred throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties, including a jackknifed tractor-trailer near exit 49 of the Sunrise Highway that closed all westbound lanes around 8 a.m.
Warmer temperatures and rain created a sloppy, slushy mix across Long Island's roadways.
