Three dozen firefighters worked quickly to prevent a large detached garage fire from spreading to the main home or neighboring properties this morning.
"Really no damage or hazards to any of the other surrounding homes at this time. I have approximately about 25, 30 firefighters on scene working as a team to get the job done," Huntington Manor Fire Chief Brian Christen.
Officials said the fire started in the back of the home at 28 11th Ave. in Huntington Station around 9 a.m.
The fire engulfed the roughly 2,500-square foot structure causing heavy smoke and flames in the neighborhood.
No one was injured, according to first responders.
The Huntington Manor and Huntington fire departments assisted at the scene with Melville on standby.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
