A local hero is back home this morning after a week in the hospital.

North Babylon firefighter Steven Dellavecchia was released from Good Samaritan Hospital on Sunday.

Dellavecchia suffered a cardiac emergency while responding to a fire.

Video obtained by News 12 shows many people, including his fellow first responders, waiting outside the hospital to cheer him on.

Dellavecchia’s friends in North Babylon say they can't wait to see him back at the firehouse.
