The first Cricket World Cup match in Nassau County took place Monday at Eisenhower Park, with South Africa defeating Sri Lanka by six wickets with 22 balls left.
Before the match began, there was an opening ceremony which included the national anthem and players and flags representing countries. Some of those flags were held by Long Island children.
The next Nassau County match will take place Wednesday, June 5 at 10:30 a.m. when India takes on Ireland.
