A woman in a wheelchair was rescued from a smoke-filled home during a fire in Hempstead.
Authorities say the woman was carried down from the second floor of the house of Elizabeth Drive.
The Nassau Fire Marshal’s Office says firefighters performed the rescue without their full gear. One firefighter was also in street clothes.
The fire was caused by a dryer in the basement, according to authorities. No one was hurt.
