Fire officials say a garbage truck came barreling down a road before hitting a car and a house in Albertson Wednesday morning.
The incident happened around 10 a.m. on Bethel Road. Officials say the driver of the garbage truck hit a red BMW and a telephone pole before crashing into the front of a house.
Assistant Chief Timothy Farrell of the Albertson Fire Department says the driver of the garbage truck and the driver of the BMW were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
He says there was one homeowner in the house at the time, and that firefighters were able to get her out safely.
Farrell says when the truck hit the house, it broke the gas meter along with electrical poles. Six neighbors lost power.
PSEG Long Island crews have restored power to all the houses, except for the home where the garbage truck slammed into and the corner house next to it.
