A Farmingdale plastics factory went up in flames Friday, and fire officials are calling the blaze suspicious.Flames shot up 30 feet in the air and there were explosions on site at the factory on Eastern Parkway. Fire officials say it could've been extremely dangerous because when plastic burns it puts off a toxic chemical. However, an air quality test shows everything is OK.
Since the building was so close to Long Island Rail Road tracks, the flames damaged wires and caused delays during the morning commute. The two-story factory was completely demolished. Officials are calling the blaze suspicious, saying two men were seen running from the property right after the fire started.
