A fire completely destroyed a gas station along the North Service Road of the Long Island Expressway (LIE) in Brentwood Friday.

Fire officials say the fire erupted around 2:20 p.m. at the BP station near exit 54, just east of the Sagtikos Parkway. The officials believe an acetylene tank inside the repair shop may have started the blaze. All five people inside the BP station, at which a Dunkin Donuts also operates, escaped unharmed.

A bulldozer arrived to knock down the remaining structure after the flames were extinguished.
