A massive fire broke out at Mamma Rutty’s Daycare, located in the basement of a home in Lindenhurst.

Five children were at the day care at the time, but the North Lindenhurst fire chief says they all got out safely.

Flames were billowing out of the home on 51st Street, creating so much smoke that the fire chief could see it while driving nearby.

“I turned the corner, the front of the house was on fire, at which point I activated the department for a full response," said North Lindenhurst Fire Chief Cody Finn.

The children were evacuated safely to a neighboring home.
