The Nassau County SPCA is asking for the public’s help to find whoever stole a kitten named Princess this week from a Petco in Carle Place.
Princess was one of more than 150 cats up for adoption from the Golden Paws Society. The adoption center’s director, Eileen Osmers, says two people unlocked the kitten's cage inside the Petco and left with the animal.
Osmers says Princess was placed into a duffle bag and zippered in before they left the store.
Gary Rodgers, of the Nassau SPCA, says they are “very concerned why it was taken.”
“Maybe they took it because they wanted to give it a good home, but we need to know. We need to find out why," he told News 12.
The SPCA is offering a reward of $2,500 to whoever helps them find the kitten. Osmers is pledging $1,000 as a reward.
News 12 reached out to Petco for comment about the abduction.
