(11/03/06) YAPHANK - Suffolk police say they made a fourth and final arrest Friday in the murder of 18-year-old Thomas Herzberg, of Holbrook.
Michael Weed, 19, was arraigned on felony murder charges after turning himself in Thursday night. The Suffolk assistant district attorney says Weed was the driver of the Trailblazer that, along with another car, chased Herzberg's Jeep on Patchogue-Holbrook Road on October 24. Police say the teens in the two cars wanted to rob Herzberg's passenger. Herzberg died from a bullet wound to the head, while his passenger was unharmed. According to police, all the gunshots came from the Trailblazer, but the assistant DA maintained Weed was not the shooter.
Brian Rivera and Russell Cronin, suspected to have ridden with Weed in the Trailblazer, were charged last week on second-degree murder charges. The suspected driver of the other chasing car, Robert Latham, was charged with attempted robbery.
