Fight against cancer gets physical in Smithtown

Forty women took out their gloves in a self-defense class to raise money for ovarian and breast cancer research.

The fight against cancer got physical in Smithtown Sunday. 

Forty women took out their gloves in a self-defense class to raise money for ovarian and breast cancer research.

The class was held at Monster Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & MMA.

The goal was to empower women to protect themselves and support each other. 

Participation fees will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

And raffles and food sales will go to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance.
