Two John F. Kennedy International Airport customs agents from Long Island are accused of taking bribes to let contraband pass through without inspection.
Federal agents say they had been watching customs agent Walter Golembiowski, of Bethpage, since 2003. They say he accepted nearly $150,000 to allow hashish, ecstasy, steroids and counterfeit luxury goods through the air cargo inspection area.
Golumbiowski, with the help of customs agent John Ajello, of Hicksville, allegedly let thousands of pounds of the materials through.
Vincent Juzumas, a Merrick man who owns an air cargo customs brokerage firm named in the case, and four others from the New York area were arrested in the bust.
