After an 8-month undercover investigation, FBI agents arrested 10 Westbury men accused of selling crack cocaine as members of the notorious Bloods gang.
Although some of the men claim they don't know why they were arrested Wednesday morning, recently unsealed indictments show that all were slapped with drug-related charges.
The men allegedly produced and sold up to a kilogram of crack every week near the corner of Prospect and Brooklyn avenues in Westbury.
The owner of Ernie's Barber Shop, Ernie Llewellyn, whose store stands at that intersection, is hopeful the community will benefit from the arrests. "We need it," Llewellyn said. "We need a more peaceful neighborhood."
If convicted, the accused men could serve five years to life in prison. The men could also face millions of dollars in fines.
