Jurors are deciding the fate of a man charged in the death of a popular Westbury doctor as the victim's widow waits for justice.
Mayer Sadian, 20, is charged with manslaughter and leaving the scene of the crime for the crash that killed Dr. Jeffery Siegel in July 2007. Jurors will decide Sadian's fate after a 4-week long trial.
Sadian is accused of hitting Dr. Jeffery Siegel and leaving him to die. The doctor was crossing Mineola Avenue in Roslyn Heights to pick up pizza for his family when he fell victim to Sadian's reckless driving, according to prosecutors.
Dr. Louise Spadaro, Siegel's widow, says she hopes justice will be served.
"We need to have justice for his life," she says. "He was an amazing person, a wonderful person."
