Two teens driving on a residential Lake Ronkonkoma road flipped their car Thursday, killing a 18-year-old boy riding in the passenger seat.
Witnesses say the car came speeding down hilly Arlington Road. The 17-year-old driver, Kelli Tillotson of Lake Ronkonkoma, lost control of the car and hit a tree before the car flipped and slammed into a parked van. She was taken to a local hospital. Her passenger, Caleb Miller, died in the crash.
Residents say the combination of speed and poor visibility on Arlington Road often left homeowners wondering when a fatal accident would happen. Some say they plan to petition the town to erect more stop signs on the street to slow drivers down.
