Some Long Island roads remain snow-covered hours after plows passed through, prompting calls to News 12 from viewers concerned about unsafe driving conditions.

In Farmingville, thick, packed snow made parts of Horseblock and South Coleman roads difficult to navigate, especially near the top of a steep hill where the pavement was barely visible.

One longtime resident, Albert Boccio, decided not to wait for help.

Boccio has lived in the neighborhood for nearly 40 years and used his own plow to clear portions of South Coleman and Hettys Path, a dead-end stretch he says had not been serviced.

“It’s a safety hazard for drivers,” Boccio said, adding that cars were sliding back down the hill before turning around.

While adults worried about road conditions, his grandchildren made the most of the snow day, sledding along the unplowed sections as they slid down the hill.

Boccio said he hopes salt trucks will arrive soon to fully clear the area.
