A Long Island company known for making guitar strings received a financial boost to help make COVID-19-related protective gear.
D'Addario and Company makes musical instrument strings and accessories in their Farmingdale factory.
When the pandemic shut down their primary business in March, they pivoted to making plastic face shields.
The state has given the company a $341,000 to produce over 1 million more shields.
Seven other business across the state also received financial support to help produce COVID-19 equipment and supplies.
