A Farmingdale facility is training young baseball players to pitch without the help of Spider Tack, or sticky stuff.
Sticky stuff is a substance sometimes put on baseballs to get a better grip.
Major League Baseball has cracked down on it, but now the substance is getting increased scrutiny even in local sports.
The substance has been used in baseball for a long time. Pitchers have learned how to use it to their advantage, making the baseball spin a little harder.
Bobby DeMichael is the owner of Prospect Performance Baseball in Farmingdale.
A former pitcher himself, he thinks it is a good idea that the substance is being scrutinized.
DeMichael and his team have adopted some high-tech equipment to help his high school and college players develop their skills without sticky stuff.
