Family searches for missing Patchogue woman with PTSD
A family says they are desperately searching for Janet Barra -- a Patchogue woman who went missing two weeks ago.
Her daughter, Rebecca Barra, says she went to her mother's apartment on June 2 and saw that all her belongings were gone except for her furniture. Janet is a Navy veteran who suffers from post-traumatic stress syndrome.
"I put out a post on Facebook because I knew something was wrong with her to do all these things. And thankfully, somebody spotted her car," Rebecca Barra tells News 12 Long Island
Security video from June 5 shows Janet driving her car into a parking lot on Route 112 in Medford around 9 a.m. She gets out of the car with a bag in her hand. Rebecca says her mother left her purse, cellphone, ID and bank card inside the car.
Police issued a Silver Alert for Barra. She's described as white with olive skin, brown eyes and black hair. She's 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about Barra to call 911 or the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
