Hundreds attended a
candlelight vigil Wednesday evening in Massapequa Park to honor NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller, who was killed in the line of duty on Monday.
People stood shoulder-to-shoulder at a packed Brady Park to send a message that they will stand with Diller’s family following their loss.
Diller, who lived in Massapequa Park, was described as a dedicated police officer and someone who always stood by his family and friends. He leaves behind a wife and 1-year-old son.
Members of the Diller family also attended the vigil.
Visitation will be held for Diller on Thursday and Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Massapequa Funeral Home in Massapequa Park. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Massapequa on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
A source has confirmed to News 12 that former President Donald Trump will be attending one of the wake services for Diller.
The lines were out the door at several local shops in Massapequa Park, where people were picking up flags and blue ribbons ahead of the vigil.
