A jury has awarded $35 million to the family of a Bay Shore man who died in police custody.

Kenny Lazo's family sued Suffolk County, Suffolk County police and five officers, claiming his death was the result of police brutality in 2008.

His death was officially ruled a cardiac arrest.

Following a three-week trial, the jury ruled in Lazo's family's favor.

A Suffolk County spokesperson says the county will be appealing the verdict.
