Kenny Lazo's family sued Suffolk County, Suffolk County police and five officers, claiming his death was the result of police brutality in 2008.
His death was officially ruled a cardiac arrest.
Following a three-week trial, the jury ruled in Lazo's family's favor.
A Suffolk County spokesperson says the county will be appealing the verdict.
