Families of murder victims gathered in Roosevelt Saturday to call for an end to a code of silence that has made it difficult for police to make arrests in several cases. Families affected by violence that came to a meeting outside a youth center in Roosevelt. Bishop Raymond Mackey joined the families because he doesn't want people to forget the victims. The parents of Kareem Sapp, who was shot in Uniondale in December, are still waiting for an arrest to be made in his murder. Even as they grieve, they're hoping to support other families of murder victims and urging people with information about crimes to come forward. Sabrina Woody's son Jeffrey Truesdale was killed in 2000. That case has since been solved, but Woody wanted to support other families going through the pain they endured.?See their pain, see their struggle, see their suffering and remind us that we must not neglect the fact that we must stop the violence that's going on in our community,? says Bishop.Other murders that have gone unsolved include the stabbing of a student on the handball court at Hempstead High School in January, and a shooting inside a house on Linden Place in Hempstead.
