The Fair Lawn Public Library is looking to help make someone’s wedding day special by loaning them vintage wedding dresses.
Library director Adele Puccio says that what started off as a hobby of collecting dresses has become a way to give back to the community.
Puccio says that she has a wide range of dresses from different eras going back to the 1940s. She currently has about 20 dresses stored in the library and her home.
"If a bride really likes it and wants to wear it for her wedding, we’re going to let her keep it. You know, there’s a lot of attachment with bridal gowns. People come in and if they want to borrow it for a costume that’s fine, too,” Puccio says. “I have some that I would consider more costume quality because they’re not up to being worn for a wedding.”
Puccio says that the motivation behind the project is just to make people happy.
