News. 12 Cecilia Dowd spoke exclusively with some Long Islanders who are still stuck in Israel tonight. I woke up and then I heard a lot of sirens out. I heard sirens outside. I didn't know exactly what was going on. And, uh, it was very frightening. I still hearing collisions in the distance. Um, not by us. Thank God, but I mean, it's close. I mean, it's only a couple miles away probably a terrifying day in Israel for Long Islanders. Sammy Tis of Woodmere, who's there for National Service and yak gam media of Inwood who's staying with family. It's very frightening. Very unknown and scary. So right now we're just going to probably sleep in the bomb shelter, Renee, they're in a city just west of Jerusalem and Nassau resident Robert who just wants his first name used due to security concerns is on vacation in Tel Aviv with his wife and friends. There was a rocket that landed about 10 miles from here. I think that's probably the closest, but you can still hear them. And we assume that the sounds that we were hearing was the iron dome response to rockets that were in the iron dome is the Israeli defense system. Roberts says they've had to run for shelter multiple times at the hotel. The stairwells, they are designed as shelters, they're bomb shelters, they find several layers and walls of concrete. These hotels are built to withstand. Um, you know, that kind of thing. The goal for Robert and Galilee two getting home as soon as possible. I always want to go back tomorrow but um also my flight was canceled but I was able to get, I booked an L A flight and I also booked another Delta flight on Thursday.
