An ex-NYPD officer who pleaded guilty in a fatal DWI crash received more time in jail Friday than initially expected.
Danielle Baymack, 22, was sentenced to one year in jail. Baymack pleaded guilty in January to manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated. Baymack was intoxicated behind the wheel in a crash that killed her NYPD colleague, 24-year-old Marlene Rivera, in January of 2006. Baymack's BAC after the crash was measured at .11.
An initial plea deal would have had Baymack serving six months in the Nassau County Jail. However, on Friday, the judge informed Baymack that she would not honor that deal and imposed the one-year sentence. Baymack accepted the sentence. If she didn't, she had the option of withdrawing her guilty plea and going to trial.
