Ex-employees: LI kosher caterer ignored dietary rules

Two former employees of Morrell Caterers are suing the Mineola company for allegedly preparing and serving non-kosher food to unsuspecting customers. Former General Manager Tom Cataldo says owner Scott Morrell forced him and chef Michael Savitsky to cook non-kosher food in kosher kitchens. He says Morrell was trying to expand the business and cut corners. "I couldn't go another day knowing that he was defrauding the kosher Jewish community on Long Island," says Cataldo. Morrell's attorney says the accusations are baseless and that they are intended to force him to drop an unrelated lawsuit.
