The man who was accused of killing a Sayville woman in September was fatally shot by police in Massachusetts.
Suffolk County police say homicide detectives determined Brandon Hampson was responsible for stabbing Rachel Frislid to death inside her home on Sept. 3.
Police say they located Frislid's ex-boyfriend Hampson at French Kind Restaurant and Motel in Erving, Massachusetts and requested assistance from the Erving Police Department and Massachusetts State Police.
They say officers saw him outside the motel on Sept. 9 and when officers approached him, he displayed a knife.
The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office says officers gave multiple verbal commands for him to drop his weapon, but he didn't comply.
The 55-year-old was then shot and taken to a hospital where he died.
