A former assistant chief of the Melville Fire Department is accused of stealing and selling donated cars.
The cars were donated by civilians and supposed to be used in fire training sessions. According to investigators, William Guichard, of Huntington Station, sold the donated vehicles instead of handing them over to the fire department.
Police say Guichard stole cars as well and sold the parts for money.
