Events planned across Long Island to mark the 1-year anniversary of Oct. 7 attacks in Israel

Several events are happening across Long Island on Monday, including at the Israel Chesed Center in Hewlett.

During the first anniversary of the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks in Israel, thousands of Long Islanders are remembering the lives lost.
One year ago, Hamas militants stormed Israel, taking 250 people hostage and killing approximately 1,200 others.
Several events are happening across Long Island on Monday, including at the Israel Chesed Center in Hewlett. ICC is a nonprofit religious organization founded one year after the attacks. The group supports those overseas affected by the conflict in the Middle East.
The schedule for Oct. 7, 2024, at the Israel Chesed Center is as follows:
7 a.m. to 7 p.m. -- Mosaic Art, Videos and Reflection
8 a.m. - Morning services for 12 grade boys/fathers
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. -- Memorial Service / Torch Lighting
Also happening today, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blackman is expected to join 50 community organizations, Nova Music Festival Survivors and IDF soldiers from Long Island to commemorate all lost lives. This event will be held at Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park.
Temple Emanu-El is set to hold a service in Long Beach at 7 p.m. More information can be found here.
