While there are still a few weeks left of summer, there are a number of beaches that are already closed.
Robert Moses State Park?s Field 4 is one of a handful of state beaches on the Island now closed. This is due to smaller crowds and a 25 to 30 percent drop in lifeguards as college kids head back to school. Many beaches have also reduced their swimming hours.
Jones Beach?s Field 1 and the East Bathhouse Pool have also closed for the season.
