An Elmont resident says she's stuck with a sinkhole she can't get rid of and had trouble getting help dealing with it.
Rhonda Brooks says one day she was confronted with the hazardous issue, and things have only gotten worse.
Part of her front yard gave way on Saturday, leaving the 5-foot-wide, 8-foot-deep hole on the property.
And now, she says she's getting the run-around from her home insurance company about fixing it. She says Bershire Hathaway Guard was slow to respond after being directed to them by 311 and the town.
"Saturday nothing, Sunday nothing, Monday nothing. They came Tuesday and just assessed but didn't even secure anything," says Brooks. "I think it sucks. I mean, as you can see, anything can happen. It could continue to fall in. Someone could get hurt. It's ridiculous."
On Thursday, the home insurance company responded, saying, "While the question of coverage remains uncertain, we paid the claim and sent an engineer to set up a barrier until this can be permanently fixed for the sake of everyone’s safety."
