A West Islip family has filed a lawsuit against two nursing homes and a hospital entrusted with the care of a family member.
Judith Grant says workers at the East Neck Nursing Center in West Babylon neglected her 86-year-old mother, Idolly Grant, during her three-year stay. Judith says her mother lost the ability to speak, to move and to take care of herself. She was hospitalized at the Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip at 109 pounds. During her stay there she dropped to 64 pounds.
Several weeks later she was transferred to Our Lady Consolation Nursing and Rehabilitation home in West Islip where she died from massive and festering bed sores.
Two of the facilities refused to talk to News 12 Long Island about the case.
