Bridgeport's Muslim community is celebrating the city's decision to close schools on an important Islamic holiday.
The Board of Education voted Monday night to include the last day of Ramadan, known as Eid al-Fitr.
The idea was
brought to the board by a group of students who pursued the change as part of a civics class.
Since next year's calendar has already been adopted, the change will take effect in April 2024.
