Mikila Thompson is a lifelong Long Island resident who currently lives in Amityville, and has three children along with several nieces and nephews in schools throughout Long Island.
Mikila is an Education Lawyer who advocates for children who live and attend school in New York City. A parent of both a classified and formerly classified student, Mikila is very knowledgeable about the IEP process in New York state as well as the struggles with getting services for her children.
Ms. Thompson is a parent of a high school sophomore and junior, and a college sophomore. She helped create and volunteers for a non-profit called S.O.A.R.! (Strategic Opportunities Achieving Results) that annually gives away scholarships to graduating high school students.
