Edison Township is holding its first-ever Diwali Festival today.
The festival goes on until 8 p.m., giving everyone a chance to come out and celebrate the holiday.
People can come enjoy food, music, fireworks, performances and support local vendors.
Diwali, one of the most important festivals in Hinduism, celebrates good over evil and light over darkness.
With more than one-third of the township celebrating the holiday, Mayor Sam Joshi encourages everyone to come out.
“We have 65,000 lights on display on the lake. We have 5,000 Diya lights that were giving out and all of this was covered through 100% donations,” he says.
The Diya Lighting Ceremony will light up the park at 6 p.m.
